turfmesh grass protection mesh

We pride ourselves on supplying the highest quality products that really stand the test of time. We ensure that all of our grass reinforcement meshes are made from high density polyethylene which is renowned for its non-slip qualities, strength and durability. Depending on the quality of installation and other determining factors including weather and frequency of use, all of our reinforcement products have the potential to last as long as 20 years before replacement is necessary.

Each roll of mesh is easy to install using one of our wide range of fixing solutions, using one peg at 1 metre intervals and can be installed on to both flat and uneven ground. Once installed and the grass below has grown sufficiently, you will see just how discreet the TurfMesh is and that it can be treat, weeded and mowed like normal.

Turf reinforcement mesh for events

For events like festivals, where there is a lot of foot traffic across grassed areas, grass reinforcement is essential. Because of this turf reinforcement mesh has become a popular grass path and walkway product. Used on grassed areas that experience heavy foot traffic which could damage the turf and ground below leading to muddy and slippery areas, that can take months to recover.

Once installed, our grass reinforcement mesh products protect the root of the grass and the ground below from becoming quagmire and supports the pedestrians from using the path. This type of path is seen more at festivals and events to prevent damage from heavy foot traffic.

TurfMesh for golf courses

The emphasis of year-round accessibility, reinforcement and protection of a grassed surface is paramount for golf courses.

The reputation of any golf course can be irreparably damaged by poor drainage and neglect of high traffic areas such as tees, paths and buggy tracks.

When these areas become bare and muddy, golf courses may need to close or restrict access to certain holes, impacting on revenue.

Turf reinforcement mesh is a simple and versatile choice for golf courses as the rubber mat can be laid directly onto a grass surface and it will begin to protect that grassed area immediately.

Useful for around teeboxes, bunkers and along pathways alongside fairways or any highly trafficked area, TurfMesh is an inexpensive and effective solution.

Turfmesh for camping

TurfMesh grass mat can be used to create a reinforced surface for camping. Often, during periods of inclement weather grass can become saturated and unsuitable for camping on.

Campsites can use our turf reinforcement mesh to create durable grass pitches for tents, motorhomes, caravans and awnings, as well as for pathways within campsites. By doing so, the quality of the surface will be improved and the cleanliness due to reduction of mud around the site will be noticeable, all year round.

As TurfMesh is simply pegged into place, they can be laid to create walkways and paths around camp sites temporarily during autumn and winter and removed for storage during warmer months.

Turfmesh FOR SCHOOLS

TurfMesh grass matting is highly popular with schools and other education establishments as there is a large concentration of children and often with a number of pieces of play apparatus.

TurfMesh can be used around low-level play apparatus such as trim-trails but also for larger pieces such as full climbing frames and swings, as well as on paths around the school grounds.

Once installed, grass can mature through the holes and will help to disguise the grass mats and produce a lush, green, safe surface for exercise and play.

TurfMesh can be used to also help reduce mud around school when used alongside paths to fortify the ground and help to protect from grass and soil erosion by pedestrians.

grass access routes

Our ground protection mesh is a vital product used mainly for emergency services access routes who need a reliable route in ,through and out of an area without the risk of getting stuck in mud. As TurfMesh is a strong, durable and non-slip product it can provide a suitable route, path or road for emergency services and other vehicles to use safely and confidently.

If installed temporarily at events which move location,  the TurfMesh can be unpinned and relocated to create access routes and roads at the new location.

Heavy goods vehicles

Because of the strength and flexibility of TurfMesh it is perfect to be used for heavy goods vehicles. the TurfMesh allows for heavy goods vehicles to be parked onto grass areas without the vehicle damaging the roots of the grass. The non-slip nature of the TurfMesh also allows for the heavy goods vehicles to be driven in wet conditions with minimal risk of slipping.

The TurfMesh can also be used to park regular vehicles on grassed areas, making it perfect for larger grassed car parks, without causing damage to the grass roots.

turfmesh in playgrounds

Ground reinforcement and TurfMesh are perfect for use in playgrounds and beneath play equipment and in parks.

As the TurfMesh strengthens and fortify the grass surface, the amount of soil erosion is reduced and the quality and density of the grass is improved.

The TurfMesh can simply be laid onto closely mown grass and pegged into place, providing immediate protection against falls, trips and other accidents.

For an integrated installation, the top layer of turf can be removed and the surface re-seeded to encourage new grass growth with the mats in place.

Grass Reinforcement, turf mesh: Installation

Once you have identified the area in which your new TurfMesh will be installed, cut the existing grass on the shortest
setting and remove any clippings by rake, garden vacuum or leaf-blower.
2. If needed, level out the exisiting area by filling in ruts or divots with a 70:30 mix of sharp sand and topsoil and then
compact. These areas should also be seeded as this stage, following the seed coverage instructions set out by the seed
supplier. Overseeding following installation can be done as required.
3. Before laying the TurfMesh, we would recommend unrolling it and leaving for a minimum of one hour to help the mesh
regain its flatness to avoid any rutting. The TurfMesh can also be cut prior to install with garden secateurs if required.
4. Install the TurfMesh directly onto the existing ground, butting up any joins or additional rolls to avoid overlapping. If the
installation is carried out in spring or summer, it is recommended that a 15mm gap is left between adjacent rolls and that
rolls are pinned individually.
5. Pin the mesh to the ground with our metal pins or plastic anchors following our pinning diagram, which contains the
recommended location of pins and how many are required per roll.
6. Install the first row of pins along the longest edge of the roll starting in one corner, ensuring that the mesh is as taut and
flat as possible to avoid a ripple effect in the mesh.
7. Subsequent rows of pins should be inserted in the same manner as above in accordance with the pinning diagrams
shown for your type of installation
8. Turfmesh can be trafficked straight after install if necessary, providing it was fitted on well drained, firm ground. Once
the grass starts to grow through the mesh it can mowed, seeded and treated as normal. Best results are obtained by
restricting trafficking until after the grass has thoroughly established through the mesh and has been cut several times.
